So my friend and I were driving earlier today and he mentioned about a hot Dr Pepper soda drink. I gave a weird look thinking what in the world is that? He said that it’s basically boiling a Dr Pepper soda and putting a bunch of stuff in it like ginger and other things. It was a thing he tried many years ago with his brothers. We were on our way to our refugee friends’ house earlier, but they were busy. Kinda our fault for not telling them that we’re stopping by to visit, so out of my curiosity and suggested to make our own hot Dr Pepper soda drink. We got nothing else to do for the night so…..yep. We’ll make our own little twisted experiment and concoction. I googled some recipes for the drink, but barely any were showing online. We didn’t know what to put in it so we stopped by Mariano’s grocery store and bought some ginger, cloves, lemon and Dr Pepper ( the one made with real sugar not the one with high fructose corn syrup). My friend had cinnamon sticks and nutmeg at home already so we thought to add in those two. I told him that maybe we could put in spicy peppers in it to try and see how it taste but he was like, nahhhhh. So we skipped that spicy pepper part. So below we’re the ingredients that we used. We simmered the whole thing for about 15 minutes and brought it to a boil last 5 minutes.
- Dr Pepper soda ( with real cane sugar not high fructose corn syrup)
- Fresh lemon slices
- Whole Cloves
- Cinnamon sticks
- Freshly ground nutmeg
- Chunks of ginger
We had my friend’s brother try our concoction. The drink turned out pretty good, although it was a little lemony, but it tasted good actually. Maybe next time we will put a little less lemon slices and perhaps add booze in it. Nahhh not into alcohol ha. You guys down to try it? If you guys did, let me know what you think!
